Prep School Pupils Shine in National and Creative Achievements

Pupils at Plymouth College Prep School have been celebrating success across both the arts and academics, with recent achievements in speech and drama and mathematics highlighting the breadth of talent and confidence developing across the school.
Speech and Drama
Over 60 pupils from Reception through to Year 6 stepped up to perform at this year’s Speech and Drama Festival. The courage required to stand before an audience and adjudicator is immense, and our pupils handled it with grace and flair.
The results were amazing:
- 9 Class Winners (1st Place)
- 10 Second-Place Finishers
- 14 Third-Place Finishers
Two of our pupils, Isaac and Hector, were jointly awarded the highly acclaimed Overall Verse Speaking Cup, marking them as the top performers in their discipline across the entire festival.

Maths Challenge
Our Prep School Maths department is beaming with pride following the results of the National Primary Maths Challenge. After a rigorous first round in November, where many of our pupils showcased their logic and problem-solving skills, one Year 6 pupil rose to the ultimate challenge.
While many of Dougie’s peers narrowly missed the high threshold for the final stage, this young mathematician successfully qualified for the prestigious Bonus Round. Competing against the top 11-year-old minds in the country, he secured a Bronze Award. This is a fantastic achievement, representing a level of mathematical fluency well beyond his years.
Congratulations to him and to all pupils who took part in tackling the complex November papers.
