National STEMfest Award

In a brilliant display of environmental stewardship and engineering, three Year 6 pupils (Cora LR, Lizzie L and Esme M) at Plymouth College have taken the STEMfest Design Competition by storm.
Run by the National Marine Aquarium, the competition challenged students to think deeply about our impact on the planet.
After participating in a series of intensive STEM activities, the trio focused their efforts on a design challenge: Ocean-Friendly Houses. Their innovative concepts designed a puck that changed colour when it became too hot, designed to take shorter showers and save water.
Their design was selected for its brilliance and will now be manufactured and distributed by local companies. Seeing pupil-led designs move from the classroom to the real world is a testament to the power of young imagination.
